Mildred Holcombe Hall

Mildred Holcombe Hall, a life long resident of Lake
Wales, Florida and a sixth generation Floridian, died in Whiteford, MD., on April 28, 2011. She was 80.
Mrs. Hall was born in Lake
Wales, Florida, to Alex Holcombe and Ruth Jones Garrett.
Mrs. Hall retired in 1995 from the Polk
County
Public School system after 25 years working as a paraprofessional at Lake
Wales
High School, which was also her alma mater. She was a member of and served in a variety of offices for the United Daughters of the Confederacy, Daughters of the American Revolution, and Colonial Dames. She also served with the Ridge Genealogical Society, the Historic Lake Wales Society and was on the Depot Advisory Commission. The Florida Genealogical Society recognized Mrs. Hall and her family as Florida Pioneer Descendents. Mrs. Hall was a member of the First
Baptist
Church in Lake
Wales, where she served as a youth leader, a Sunday School teacher and a kindergarten teacher and in other capacities for over 60 years.
Mrs. Hall was preceded in death by Carl Landon Hall, her husband of 49 years. She is survived by her three children, Gwen Hall of Belcamp, Maryland, Keith Hall (Laura), and David Hall (Anne), both of Fairfax, Virginia. She also leaves her four grandchildren, Ashleigh Lamkin (John), Lindsay Hall, Nathan Hall and Kristen Hall and great granddaughter Mercy Theodora Lamkin, who was born on May 1. Survivors also include her sister, Rachel Turner, of Okeechobee, Florida.
A viewing will be held on Friday, May 13, from 6-8PM at Marion-Nelson Funeral Home, 454 South Buckmoore Road, Lake Wales, FL. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 14, at 10:00 AM, First Baptist Church of Lake Wales, 338 East Central Avenue, Lake Wales, FL. Pastor Scott Markley will officiate.
