Stanley Clement Wilson, Jr.

 

 

On November 23, 2011, Stanley Clement Wilson, Jr., passed peacefully into the arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ; he was 74. 

 

Stanley "Skip" Clement Wilson, Jr., was born April 19, 1937 in Havre de Grace, Maryland to Stanley Clement Wilson, Sr., and Frances Mary (Lewis) Wilson.  He graduated from Havre de GraceHigh School in 1955.  That same year he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he served aboard the U.S. Presidential Helicopter Squadron, HMX-1 for two years. 

 

Stanley "Skip" Wilson worked as a telephone lineman in various locations until his employment with Bell Atlantic (Verizon), brought him back to Havre de Grace.  He worked for Bell Atlantic (Verizon) for 37 years as a telephone/switchboard technician until his retirement in 2000.

 

Skip was very involved in his local church, Antioch Baptist, where he enjoyed leading the congregational singing on Sunday mornings.  He also served the Havre de Grace chapter of Young at Heart as the organization's chaplain.

 

He was preceded in death by his father, Stanley Clement Wilson, Sr., his mother, Frances Mary Mott, his stepfather Wray R. Mott, and his brother, William Wilson.

 

Stanley Clement Wilson, Jr. is survived by his wife of 51 years, Dolores (Johnson) Wilson, his sisters, Shirley Volkhart and Lorelle Tanchuck, his daughters, Wendy M. Warner and Christian Joy Wilson, his son Stanley Clement Wilson, III, five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

 

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, November 30, 2011 from 4-7PM at Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., 123 South Washington Street, Havre de Grace, MD.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 1, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Antioch Baptist Church, 209 North Earlton Road, Havre de Grace, MD. Pastor Donnie Smith will officiate. Interment will be held at Angel Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jerry S. Warner, Sr., Jerry S. Warner Jr., Ron Davis, Michael Hodges, Steven Nissley, and Benjamin Wilson.

Donations in his memory may be made to Antioch Baptist Church, 209 N. Earlton Rd., Havre de Grace, MD 21078, in lieu of flowers.
