Viola "Vi" Stankwich Blevins
Viola Stankwich Blevins died at Stella Maris in Baltimore
County on Tuesday. She was 79.
Born March 4, 1930 in Baltimore
City, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Stankwich and Emma Albricht Stankwich (Stankie). She attended Old
Post
Road
High School in Harford
County. She then worked as a fashion buyer for the old Hutzler’s Department Store in Baltimore.
Known to all as “Vi” she married Newton B. “Doc” Blevins on January 6, 1950 at the First Baptist Church of Havre de Grace. They lived in Havre de Grace the entire 59 years of their married life. Her interests included dancing, opera, and politics.
In addition to her husband, Vi is survived by her three daughters Deborah Diane Price, of Bel Air, Melinda Lee Craig of Havre de Grace, and Pamela Ann DiMauro, also of Havre de Grace, as well as seven grandchildren and eight great- grandchildren.
She is also survived by three sisters, Victoria Scerbak, Mildred Funk, and Jo Schiminger, and was predeceased by two other sisters Anna Frantz and Emma Darnall.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 29, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM, at Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., 123 South Washington Street, Havre de Grace, Maryland. A Mass of Resurrection will be held on Friday, October 30, at 10:00 AM, at the Church of St. Patrick, 615 Congress Avenue, Havre de Grace, Maryland. Father William J. O’Brien will officiate. Interment will be held at Harford
Memorial
Gardens, Aberdeen, Maryland. Pallbearers will be George Price, David Craig, Ben DiMauro, Robert Schiminger, Ian Andersdon, and Randolph Craig.
