Obituary for Evelyn Ruth "Snookie" Kleinsorgen (Mitchell)

Evelyn Ruth “Snookie” Kleinsorgen, of Churchville, MD, passed away on March 16, 2016, due to complications from a stroke. She was 83.
She was born in Havre de Grace, MD, the daughter of the late Sarah Baldwin and Murray Mitchell. At the age of 13, Evelyn began her career at the Havre de Grace National 5&10. She worked her way up to become the store’s manager and retired after 54 years when the store closed February 4, 2000.

Ms. Kleinsorgen was a member of the Havre de Grace United Methodist Church. She was an avid fan of country music, especially George Jones, whom she saw in concert at least a dozen times. She loved to dance and regularly went out dancing twice a week. She also loved cooking, especially making homemade ravioli and gnocchi, baking, canning tomato sauce, crafting and tending to flowers. She also enjoyed crocheting and feeding the birds and squirrels.

She was predeceased in death by her sisters, Virginia, Catherine and Annabelle, and brother Stanley. She is survived by her daughter Christina Dominick; son Danny Dominick and his wife, Kathy; long-time companion and dancing partner Jack DuBree; grandchildren Danielle and Nicole; and two step-grandchildren Kristine and Duane, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A viewing will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2016 from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM, at Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., 123 South Washington Street, Havre de Grace, MD. Funeral services will begin at 12:00 PM, at the funeral home. Pastor Norman Obenshain will officiate. Interment will be held at Smith’s Chapel.
