Obituary for Alice Beatrice Boyd (Harkness)

Alice Beatrice Boyd, a lifetime resident of Havre de Grace, passed away surrounded by her family on Friday, June 30, 2017 at the age of 72. Born on August 31, 1944 in Havre de Grace, Maryland, she was the daughter of James and Mildred (Nichols)Harkness.
A passionate gardener, Alice loved being outdoors surrounded by nature. She was a talented artist who was always seeking inspiration. She made many lifelong friends throughout her 50 years as a Hairstylist. Loved by many, she was a natural care giver who gave love selflessly.
She was the devoted wife of Michael Patrick Boyd, Sr for 53 years, loving mother of Deana Marie Boyd, Michael Patrick Boyd, Jr and his wife Paula, of Havre de Grace, MD, Regina Elizabeth Soldner and her husband Jeff of Fond du Lac, WI and Bethany Sussanne Richards and her husband John of Havre de Grace, MD.
She was the adored grandmother of Steffan Michael Lee Boyd-Brudent and his husband Jules, Ashley Seahra Worthington, Ryland Marie Brown and her husband Nick, Jonna Patrice Bidleman, James Edward (JT) Thompson, Lacey Danielle Richards, Logan Michael Richards and great-grandmother of Ava Noelle Forton. She was also loved by many nieces and nephews.
She was the dear sister of James (Buddy) Harkness and Russell Harkness. She was preceded in death by her sisters Vera Harkness, Gladys Harkness, Mildred Mitchell, Betty Schantz, Jean Vaught, brother William (Billy) Harkness and loving daughter-in-law to Marie Boyd Bannister.
Alice was a member of the Girls of the Round Table, the Havre de Grace art community and a faithful member of Pleasant View Baptist Church.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Pleasant View Baptist Church, 150 Downin Lane, Port Deposit, MD 21904. Services in celebration of her life will begin at 12:00 PM. Dr. Harold Phillips will officiate. Interment will be held at Mt. Erin Cemetery.
