Obituary for Barbara Maureen Parks

Barbara Maureen Parks, of Bel Air, MD, and formerly of York, PA, took leave from Earth November 24, 2022, at Stella Maris Hospice in Timonium following a three-year determined and defying battle against brain cancer. She was 52.

Miss Parks was born at then St. Joseph Hospital in Towson, MD, to the late John William Parks and Norberta Frances Parks (nee Hack). She was the middle sibling of Kevin Parks and his wife Susan, Tom Parks and his wife Tina Schueler-Parks, aunt to Ashley Cook and her husband C.J., her nephew and Godson Ryan Parks and his girlfriend Ai Thi Ngo (called RT) and Jordan Parks and her fiancé Jeremy DeLuna.
She was preceded by her parents and maternal and fraternal grandparents and other relatives.
Miss Parks is also survived by cousins, aunts and uncles along the East Coast.

Miss Parks enjoyed crafting, scrapbooking, knitting, and sewing. Selling her crafts at shows and online was a favorite activity. She was known for ‘organizing’ all aspects of her life and was an avid fan of the Baltimore Ravens wearing her jersey on game day.

Miss Parks' beloved cats whose names include Raven, Poe, and Pumpkin, now permanently reside with family.
Miss Parks graduated from St. Joseph Catholic School in Fullerton and Mercy High School in Baltimore and was the first in her first family to graduate college with a degree from then Villa Julie College - now Stevenson University.

Her professional career spanned several well-known companies in customer support roles.
Among her final gifts, part of Miss Parks’ craft supplies will be used to create prayer shawls to bring comfort to others, her Mercy High School class ring was given back to her alma mater so a student who could not afford one could participate in this time-honored tradition, and donating her brain to the University System of Maryland with the hope, "they can find better treatments for those diagnosed in the future with my disease.”

A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated Saturday, December 10, 2022, at 10:00 AM, at St. Joseph Church, Fullerton, 8420 Belair Road, Nottingham, MD 21236.
Contributions in her memory should be made to St. Joseph School, Fullerton, 8416 Belair Road, Nottingham, MD 21236, or Mercy High School, 1300 East Northern Parkway, Baltimore, MD 21239.
