Obituary for Beverly Jones Heffinger (Jones)

Beverly Jones Heffinger, age 63, of Havre de Grace, Maryland passed away Thursday morning, November 12 at Gilchrist Care Center in Towson, Maryland. Beverly or “Bevsies” Heffinger was born August 3rd, 1957 in Wilmington, Delaware. She was the beloved daughter of John Edward Jones, Jr. and Christine Hickman Jones, the sister of Sylvia Stock and John E. Jones, and the cherished wife and soul mate of James Gayther Heffinger, Jr.

Who would have guessed a surprise blind date in a distance city and an eventual telephone proposal two months later would lead to finding the perfect soul mate, an incredible mother and result in a wonderful marriage! She endured three difficult pregnancies with complications, even risking her life during one for three weeks, to yield three beautiful babies! She never left the side of her husband during his personal battle with stage IV cancer and succeeded in saving his life. She bravely fought cancer on numerous occasions herself only to finally succumb after several misdiagnosis and a lengthy battle this year.
Bev was a compassionate stay-at-home mom for 28 years, where she dedicated much of her life to raising her three children: Colin James Heffinger, Jenna Renee Heffinger and Alyssa Jean Heffinger. She was the glue that held the family together.

Bev provided unity, purpose and peace for those fortunate to know her. She worked to prevent conflicts and seek peaceful resolutions. She liked everyone. Bev provided purpose for her husband as well. She was the reason to tackle the daily challenges and be thankful for how precious life is. She provided hope and a reason to look forward for each day. That was especially evident during her battle with cancer.
In addition to being an incredibly faithful and loving wife and mother, Bev found pleasure in cooking, gardening, crafting projects, reading thriller novels and decorating for each season and Holiday. Bev had a love for animals too, and is survived by her five cats: Oliver, Buddy, Spooky, Tom Jones “Zoey” and Argo. Bev brought an immeasurable radiance of happiness with her smile and unforgettable personality at the places she frequented. She was often found making jokes with her son, Colin, or doing imaginative photo shoots with her daughter, Jenna. Beverly treasured the moments she spent watching shows and movies with her second daughter, Alyssa.

Viewing services were privately held on Wednesday, November 18. Funeral services are to be determined at a later date due to the COVID epidemic. Online condolences may be made at www.zellmanfuneralhome.com.
