Bonnie Lee (Miller) Schnepf, age 95, passed peacefully on August 23, 2022. Bonnie Lee was born May 5, 1927, in Big Wells, Texas and grew up in the Ozark mountains of Arkansas. She was the daughter of a Methodist preacher and was the youngest of 5 siblings. Bonnie moved to Havre de Grace when she was 16 soon after her father died and worked as a typist for Aberdeen Proving Ground. In 1945, she met and married her first husband (Donald Witte) and moved to Minnesota. The horrors of war lingered on for Don and divorce unfortunately was inevitable. Bonnie later married Duane Schnepf on June 21, 1953 and moved back to HdeG where she worked for a time at Goll’s Bakery and then the National Guards in HdeG. In the 1980’s, Bonnie co-owned a business renting video equipment in downtown HdeG.
Bonnie has always been young at heart and she along with her husband would save up all year long just to take a vacation somewhere. She has been to all 50 states including standing on glaciers in Alaska and swimming in the waters of Hawaii in addition to travels abroad. Bonnie has always enjoyed being around people and was a Red Cross volunteer for several years. Bonnie’s passions have always been traveling, shoes, playing games (especially pinochle) and a good fireplace providing a little “Jack and Coke” to go along with the embers!
Unfortunately, time catches us all and she decided to move into an assisted living community in Salisbury to be closer to her children. Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years and lovingly remembered by her daughter Carrole Ann Welsh and son-in-law Larry (Bunk) Welsh. Her son Ronald Witte and Daughter-in-law JoAnne Witte and her Sister-in-law Norma Schnepf. Bonnie lee has (6) grandchildren, Jodi Lee, Lauren, TK, Sammy, Jami, Bubba and (8) great grandchildren, Madison, Jenna, Zach, Samantha, Laina, Riley, Westin and Mia.
