Charles Dean “Gomer” Hall, Sr.




Charles Dean “Gomer” Hall, Sr., of Havre de Grace, MD, passed away on April 25, 2012. He was 82.
He was born in Baltimore, MD, to the late Hurley Hall and Flossie Caldwell Hall. He was the devoted husband to the late Virginia Edith Hall, and loving father of Albert Randall “Randy” Hall and his wife Katherine of Havre de Grace, MD, the late Charles Dean Hall, Jr., Larry Joseph Hall, and Danny Edward Hall. He was the adored grandfather of Dawn Lynn Martin, Richard Daniel Hall, and Crystal Hall. He was the great-grandfather of 14. Mr. Hall is survived by one sister, Helen Williams of Little Rock, Arkansas, and was predeceased by his sisters, Nannabelle Rector, Dorie Hall, and Shirley Hall.
Mr. Hall served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. Following his military service, he worked as a gunner on Aberdeen Proving Ground. He was a Past Commander of the VFW in Aberdeen, MD, and was also a member of the VFW in Havre de Grace. He was a member of the American Legion Post 47. He loved to hunt and fish, going for rides in the car and shopping. He was also an avid Orioles fan.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2012 from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM, at Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., 123 South Washington Street, Havre de Grace, MD. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Sister Frances Schiminsky, will officiate. Interment will be held at Angel Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Russell P. Martin, Sr., Russell P. Martin, Jr., Shaun Haut, Scott Hall, Joe Hall and Joe Harrold.
