Obituary for David Allen Berry II

David Allen Berry, II


David Allen Berry, II, of Havre de Grace, MD, passed away on Sunday, October 24, 2010. He was 56.

He was born in Columbus, Ohio, to Ellen Thomas Berry and the late David A. Berry. He was the loving husband of Christine Berry, and devoted father of Jason Berry of Dover, DE, and Julie and Benn Jordan of Wellington, New Zealand.

Mr. Berry was a graduate of Muskingum College and also received an MBA from Miami University (Ohio). He retired as Vice President for Sprint Corporation. He was also a sailing instructor, and was very passionate with his work for BaySail in Havre de Grace. He was a freelance writer and a regular contributor for Sailing Magazine, The Baltimore Sun, and the Mariner Magazine. He authored three books, Maryland Skipjacks, LowerSusquehanna RiverValley, and History of the C&DCanal. He loved traveling and visited several countries, including Italy, Ecuador, Greece, Africa, New Zealand, and the state of Hawaii. He loved to sail and was a volunteer for the Skipjack Martha Lewis and also served on the Board of Directors for the Susquehanna Museum at the Lock House. Mr. Berry also enjoyed music and sports and was a fan of the Baltimore Ravens.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 28, from 12:00 until 2:00 PM at Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., 123 South Washington Street, Havre de Grace, MD 21078. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 PM. Pastor Joseph Condro will officiate.
