Obituary for Diane Lynne Smith

Diane Lynne Smith, 60, of Perry Point, MD, passed away on April 8, 2022.

Diane was born on October 25, 1961, in Havre de Grace, MD, to the late Lewis Oliver Smith and Lynne Estelle Phelps Smith. She graduated from Aberdeen High School in 1979 and joined the Navy, after which she went on to work for the Army National Guard. Following her military career, she worked at Sci-Tech in Aberdeen, and most recently worked at the V.F.W. in Port Deposit. She was a member of the American Legion and the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Diane was an avid music fan and could name and sing along to every classic rock song that came on. She adored animals and always felt complete when she had a pet companion by her side. Diane was happiest when she was able to be by the water or sunning on the beach, where she would often be found reading a book. She loved to cook and experiment with new recipes in the kitchen and had recently taken up gardening. Diane was a gifted athlete in her younger years, playing in competitive team sports and gymnastics, and had also been an aerobics instructor. She was an avid sports fan and would always be rooting for her team, the Baltimore Ravens. Diane was a warm and loving person and was always ready to have fun with her family and her many friends.

Diane was the beloved mother of Amanda Stewart and Aaron King, grandmother of Jasmine King and Tyler DeCesare, sister of Donna (Steve) Kenton, Jeffrey Smith, and James Smith, and aunt to Tiffany (Sean) MacGillivary, Austin Smith, and Evan Smith. Diane is also survived by great-nieces and great-nephews. She is predeceased by her nephew, Dane Kenton.

A visitation will be held on Friday, April 15, 2022, from 6-8 PM, at Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., 123 S. Washington St., Havre de Grace, MD. Funeral services will begin at 8PM.
