Obituary for Dorman Carroll Kerns
Dorman Carroll Kerns, of Churchville, MD, passed away on January 26, 2022. He was 88.
Mr. Kerns was born in Baltimore, MD, to John Henry Kerns and Frances Martin Kerns. He was the devoted husband of the late Ida Marie Shaffer Kerns, loving father of Susan M. Beck (David), Ronald W. Kerns, Glenn H. Kerns (Heather) and the late James C. Kerns (Gail). Mr. Kerns was the grandfather of Joey Kerns (Heather), Jaime Brooks (Anson), Timothy Kerns (Jennifer), Angela Kerns, Samantha Beck, and the late Pamela Kerns, and great-grandfather of Seth Kerns, Ava Kerns, Huxley Brooks, Edward Brooks, Keith Kerns, Cody Kerns and Levi Kerns. He was survived by his sister Thelma Martin and predeceased by his other siblings.
Mr. Kerns retired from MD State Highway Administration, then worked at Harford Memorial Gardens for several years. He was a member of Level Volunteer Fire Company for 40 years. He was an avid baseball fan, rooting for the Orioles and Nationals, and enjoyed golf. He loved to tinker on cars, especially his 1957 Chevy, which he used to race. He also enjoyed working in his yard.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, from 11AM-12PM, at Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., 123 S. Washington St., Havre de Grace, MD. Funeral services will begin at 12PM. Interment will be held at Harford Memorial Gardens.
