Obituary for Edward Joshua Hooker

Edward Joshua Hooker, of Havre de Grace, MD, passed away on Saturday, January 8, 2022. He was 90.

Mr. Hooker was born in Havre de Grace, MD, to Loudon Grafton Hooker and Mary Katherine Sullivan Hooker. He was the devoted husband of the late Rose Ellen “Tootsie” Hooker, loving father of Edward Joseph Hooker and his wife Patty, Patricia A. Hooker, and James M. Hooker and his wife Dawn. He was the grandfather of Heather Packard and her husband Chad, Philip Hooker and his wife Kate, Ryan Thomas and his wife Kristen, Jennifer Thomas and her fiancé Cory Shifflett, and Jason Thomas and his wife Marian, and great-grandfather of Evelyn Hooker, Clara Rose Hooker, Annalise Hooker, Caraline Thomas, Jack Thomas, Kane Ferguson, Olivia Shifflett, and Liliana Thomas. Mr. Hooker was the brother of the late Helen Louise Ewing.

Mr. Hooker attended St. Stephens Catholic School in Bradshaw, MD. He started work at Bata shoe where he met his wife of 67 years. He then worked as a Master Electrician with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 24. He served in the Maryland National Guard 29th Division during the Korean War. Mr. Hooker was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid hunter and a fan of Western Movies, especially “Gunsmoke.”

A viewing will be held on Friday, January 14, 2022, from 10AM until 11AM, at Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., 123 S. Washington St., Havre de Grace, MD. Funeral services will begin at 11:00. Interment will be held at Harford Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Philip Hooker, Chad Packard, Ryan Thomas, Jason Thomas, Cory Shifflett, and Bart Pierce.
