Obituary for Edward Arthur Sewell

Edward Arthur Sewell, AKA: Dad, Uncle Ed, Mr. Ed and Pop of Street, MD, passed away on April 9, 2024, at home with his family. He was 94 years old.

Edward was born on January 14, 1930 in Baltimore, MD, to John Gordon Sewell and Evelyn Viola Sewell. He was the devoted husband of the late Margaret Mary Sewell, loving father of Vicky Sirman, Margie Baratta (Carmine) and Michael Sewell (Mary).

Pop was the Grandfather of Brian Sirman (Thiago-Rego), Rebecca Sirman-Farr (Josh), Kevin Sirman (Marley), Caitlin Sirman, Rachel Gilpin (Justin), Stephen Sewell, Courtney Sewell, and Lindsey Sewell, great-grandfather of Hallie Balassone, Natalie Gilpin, Alexander Balassone, Bennett Sirman, Knox Sirman, Emmett Sewell, Luca Drennan, James Farr, Mia Farr and Mable Sirman. He was predeceased by his siblings, Gloria Parrish, John Gordon Sewell, Jr., “Gordy”, Jim Sewell, Pat Sewell and Patsy Byrd.

Ed served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was a fueler on the aircraft Carrier USS Roosevelt from 1950-1954. In civilian life he worked for standard oil of Ohio, Better known as BP oil. He was a project manager & dispatcher…. Until the age of 55 when he retired, the 1st time. After retirement, Mr. Ed worked as a bookkeeper in charge accounts payables for a local electrical contractor where he retired for a 2nd time at the age of 92.

Ed was a member of the VFW and American Legion. He was an avid reader who enjoyed traveling & going to the casino. Most of all he enjoyed his family and friends. He will be fondly remembered for his quick-witted humor, kind heart, cutting the mold off of bread and buying day old pastries. He will surely be missed, Rest in peace DAD!

A visitation will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024, from 10-11 AM, and a memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at 11:00 AM, at Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., 123 S. Washington Street, Havre de Grace, MD. Interment will be held at Gardens of Faith Memorial Gardens, Baltimore, MD. In Lieu of flowers contributions may be made in his memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
