Obituary for Frederick Charles "Fred" Ripken

Frederick Charles Ripken, of Havre de Grace, MD, passed away on July 30, 2022. He was 60.

Fred was born in Havre de Grace, MD, to Calvin Edwin Ripken, Sr., and Violet Roberta Gross Ripken. He was the loving father of Austyn Ripken (Tim Hoskins), and Mariah Ripken Curll (Brett), grandfather of Kaedan Lucas and Keegan Curll, and brother of Ellen Ripken (John Vananzo), Calvin Ripken, Jr. (Laura), and William Ripken (Candace).

Always a daredevil, Fred was a motorcycle enthusiast. He owned and operated Rip’s Performance Center; building, repairing, and racing motorcycles. He built multiple Championship Racing Bikes. Fred was also an avid metal and woodworker. He enjoyed keeping up with the Orioles, Ravens, Wizards and Lakers (but mainly Lebron James). A natural athlete of his own, Fred excelled at baseball, bowling, darts, horseshoes, swimming and more. Fred was also known for many years of coaching softball both at Havre de Grace Little League as well as the High School.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, August 3, 2022, from 2-4 and 6-8 PM, at Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., 123 S. Washington St., Havre de Grace, MD. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 4, 2022, at 11:00 AM.
