Obituary for Jann Michael Blevins

Jann M. Blevins of Havre de Grace, MD passed away on March 25, 2021 at the age of 36 years old. He was a gentle soul who was loved by everyone. Everyone he met and who met him, called the other friend. Jann loved big, he loved his family, and he had a very big family to love.
Born in Havre de Grace, MD to Jann A. Blevins (Karen Hodges) and Mary Ellen Pascuzzi Hopkins (Alan Hopkins). Jann shares his first name with his father, and so at a young age he was called “Jann Mike”, which would be his family nickname, he carried with him his whole life.
As a kid, Jann Mike was known around his hometown of Havre de Grace, as an excellent baseball player, and he forever loved baseball. Jann comes from a family of Orioles and Redskins fans, and he was often seen in a t-shirt, hat or jacket bearing one of the teams’ logos.
Jann had a passion for cooking, where he was a master cook at many types of restaurants throughout his years. He always enjoyed expanding his knowledge as a cook, working in “Mom and Pop” restaurants to places like the Bulle Rock Club Restaurant. He was known as one of the best cooks in town and he was “The Man” at more than one local grill in Bethany Beach. Not many cooks, when their station is clear, go over and help out the guy whose station is backed up. Jann did that every night.
Jann’s favorite place on Earth was the beach. He loved growing up in a beach family, and enjoyed his annual trips to either Chincoteague, Bethany Beach, or Ocean City. He lived in Bethany Beach the past three years and never missed an opportunity to be covered in sand. He would sometimes go alone if he had to but enjoyed it most when his younger brothers visited, or going with his sisters. He especially enjoyed that his little brother watched over him from the lifeguard stand.
Like his mother and father, Jann Mike was a strong believer that Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior. That was a sentiment he boldly expressed many times over his life and moreover recently. His favorite scripture passage is underlined in the Bible his little sister gifted him and comes from Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
Jann is survived by his son Mylo Lurz. His father Jann Blevins (Karen Hodges) and his mother MaryEllen Hopkins (Alan Hopkins).
His brothers and sisters: Nicholas Blevins (Michele), Robert Blevins, Jacob Klein, Aaron Hopkins (Amanda), Allison Ahrens (Chris), Ambyr Hodges, Brandon Hodges, Lacie Hopkins, Aidan Hopkins, and Audrey Hopkins. His nieces Natalie Blevins and Elliana Lynch. His grandparents: Bonnie L. Blevins and the late Robert F. Blevins, and Cecilia M. Pascuzzi and the late Philip J. Pascuzzi. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins.
