Obituary for Joseph Bernard Weatherstein

Joseph Bernard Weatherstein, of Abingdon, MD, passed away on December 22, 2022. He was 77 years old.

Mr. Weatherstein was born in Baltimore, MD, to Jake Weatherstein and Jean Runge. He was the loving father of Joseph Brandon Weatherstein (Kaitlin Murphy), and Jason Michael Weatherstein (Angela Weatherstein), grandfather of Katie Bevington (Zachary Bevington) and Karly Weatherstein, and great-grandfather of Kami Bevington and Kynzie Bevington. He was the dear brother of Leonard Weatherstein, Jeannie Weatherstein, Corinne Hoisington, and Shirley Denhardt.

Mr. Weatherstein, by profession was a commercial banker, but at his core he lived for his two sons, Joe and Jason. He was a selfless man who enjoyed making people laugh and feel good about themselves. Mr. Weatherstein could fix anything. After he retired from banking, he created a home improvement company called Aladdin. The reason he named his company Aladdin was to turn his customers’ home improvement dreams into reality. Nothing pleased him more than to finish a project and reveal the results to his clients. In every case, the customers’ positive reaction was the reason he took on new projects despite being financially secure and able to enjoy his retirement. One of his other great passions was going on cruises. He loved the Caribbean and took many cruises there, 53 in total.

Mr. Weatherstein called his sons each and every day, sometimes multiple times to check in and ended every one of those conversations with “I love you”. He truly loved his sons with every fiber of his being and never left any doubt about how much he cared for them. He instilled in both boys many elements of his personality, especially taking pride in everything they do, being able to fix anything, and dressing sharply with wrinkle free clothes and well shined shoes.

Mr. Weatherstein always reassured the boys with the statement “Everything will be ok”, even up until his passing, where he hugged his boys and let them know he had more work to do. He raised two boys into men that possess his best qualities. His memory and legacy will live on in the constant memories of his sons.
