Obituary for Joyce Evelyn Gorsuch (Gorsuch)

Joyce E. Gorsuch, a resident of Cokesbury Village, Hockessin DE, entered the Church Triumphant on November 10, 2018 after a life full of God’s Grace.
Born on June 3, 1928 to W. Stanley and Louise Klair Gorsuch, Joyce began her life in the same historic city as her family, Havre de Grace. She attended Western Maryland College and graduated in 1949.
Joyce had been very active in her community as a member of the Newark United Methodist Church and the P.E.O. Sisterhood, as well as being a life member of the Maryland Ornithological Society and the Havre de Grace Decoy Museum. She also enjoyed spending time at her “home away from home” in South Bethany, DE.
In 2001, Joyce moved from Northeast Maryland to Cokesbury Village, quickly becoming active in its poetry group. As charged to humanity in the Garden of Eden, Joyce cared deeply for the animals in her life, finding enrichment from them in turn. Her cat George was a treasured friend. Joyce is survived by her cousins and many wonderful friends. Special thanks to the caring staff of Cokesbury Village and to her friends Rita Gaughan and DeeDee Cataldi.
You are invited to attend a Memorial service in celebration of Joyce’s life on Monday, December 3, 2018 at 2PM in the auditorium of Cokesbury Village, 726 Loveville Road, Hockessin DE. A reception will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, Joyce had requested that donations be made to the Acts Legacy Foundation for use at Cokesbury Village, 375 Morris Road, P.O. Box 90, West Point, PA 19486-0090. Interment will be private with arrangements from Zellman Funeral Home in Havre de Grace, MD. Online condolences may be made at www.zellmanfuneralhome.com.
