Lorna May Wortman, of Havre de Grace, MD, passed away on March 14, 2018. She was 88.
Mrs. Wortman was born in Oregon City, Oregon, to Harry George Elligsen and Maud Davis Elligsen. She was the devoted wife of the late John D. Wortman, loving mother of Warren John Wortman and his wife Amy, of Columbia, MD, Odin David Wortman of Laurel, MD, and Adel Kathryn Wortman of Havre de Grace, and grandmother of Paul Lyons Wortman, Brian John Wortman, Laura Jean Wortman, Cara Beth Wortman and the late Benjamin Jacob Wortman. Mrs. Wortman was the sister of Keith Elligsen of Aurora, Oregon and the late Ardonnah Nowlin.

Mrs. Wortman was a member of Havre de Grace United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir and served on many committees and was a member of the United Methodist Women. She was an avid reader and was a member of several book clubs. Mrs. Wortman delivered food and drove for F.I.S.H., she volunteered her time teaching adult literacy, and helped with the Tax-Aide Program, preparing taxes for people at the library. She also volunteered at Steppingstone Museum, where she demonstrated “Tatting”, which was making lace by hand.
Mrs. Wortman also was an Oregon State University graduate, a member of the American Association of University Women, and the Maryland Ornithological Society.
A viewing will be held on Monday, March 19, 2018 from 11 AM until 12 PM, at Havre de Grace United Methodist Church, 101 S. Union Avenue, Havre de Grace, MD. Funeral services will begin at 12 PM. Pastor Norman Obenshain will officiate. Interment will be held at Harford Memorial Gardens.
