Obituary for M. Stanley "Stanley" Parnell

M. “Stanley” Parnell of Aberdeen, MD went home to be with the Lord and Savior on Sunday, December 20, 2020, after a valiant battle with Alzheimer’s. He was 81 years old and the devoted husband of 60 years to Patsy C. Parnell. His firm belief in God and his devotion to his family, supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace.

Born in Shorts Creek, VA to the late Carl and Elva (Rotenizer) Parnell. He was the loving father of Stanley Mark Parnell and Sherry Lynel Kanaras; adoring grandfather of Kristen Parnell, Tracey Parnell, Stanley Mark Parnell, Jr., and J.C. Watts; cherished great-grandfather Jacob Cohen, Naveah, Joey and Xavier. Mr. Parnell was the brother of Foster Parnell (The Late Dorothy), Arlas Parnell (Carolyn), Aileen Lawson (Eugene), Joyce Wertman, and the late Margaret Caviness (Robert), Jacob Parnell (Velma), Clarence Parnell (Velva), Coy Dale, Buford Parnell,

Mr. Parnell had retired from Bata Shoe Company and the Chrysler Company after many years of service. Upon his retirement, he also worked at Bay Oil Company and was a funeral assistant at the Tarring-Cargo Funeral Home, P.A., where he served families with his compassionate heart. He was a Deacon and member of the Mt. Calvary Freewill Baptist Church. He loved reading and studying the bible. He enjoyed working on cars and landscaping in the yard at home. Mr. Parnell will be dearly missed by his loved ones, who celebrate the fact that he is at peace with his creator.

A viewing will be held on Sunday, December 27, 2020 from 2 P.M. to 4 P.M. at the Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., 123 S. Washington Street, Havre de Grace, MD 21078. A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 28, 2020 at 12:00 PM, at the funeral home. For those who cannot attend, the services will also be live-streamed via Facebook @Zellman Funeral Home, P.A. Interment will be at Bel Air Memorial Gardens. Rev. Ron Turner will officiate. Pallbearers will be Bill Testerman, J. C. Watts, Donald Benton, Steve Wampler, Jacob Cowan, Stanley Parnell, and Daniel Testerman.
