Margaret Agnes Compton (nee DeFrank) died peacefully on February 3, 2019 in Baltimore, MD at the age of 89. She was born to Dominic and Margaret DeFrank on 1 July 1929 and was the wife of the late Thomas J. Compton, Sr.

Margaret is survived by her children Thomas J. Compton, Jr. of Baltimore, Margaret A. Blake of Spring Grove, PA, James A. Compton of Baltimore, William D. Compton of York, PA and Louise C. Spangler of Aberdeen, MD. She was preceded in death by her son, Joseph A. Compton, of Havre de Grace, MD. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

A loving mother and homemaker, Margaret was a remarkable cook and enjoyed preparing large meals for family gatherings, most especially over the holidays. While living in Baltimore City, she owned a ceramic shop where she held classes for family and neighborhood friends. For many years leading up to her passing, she enjoyed playing the slot machines at area casinos, was an avid reader of romance novels, and did various crafts and puzzles. She liked bingo and the card game pinochle. Margaret always had a pleasant and happy demeanor and was loved by all who knew her.

No funeral services will be held as per Margaret’s wishes.

Ms. Margaret was a generous person with her time and talent. She always had time for us kids (in the neighborhood). How great of you all to honor her wishes. I had not seen her in quite some time, but will always remember her and her kindness to everyone. Many thoughts and prayer to all in her family.
