Merrill Cohen

Merrill Cohen of Havre de Grace, MD, passed away on June 16, 2013. He was 79.

Mr. Cohen was born in Alachua County, FL. He was predeceased by his parents Bernard Cohen and Iva Lorraine Cohen. He was the devoted husband of 59 years to Janet Cohen. He was the loving father of Brice and Michelle Halbrook of Poolesville, MD, Stuart and Pamela Cohen of Darlington, MD, Wesley and Kathryn Cohen of Forest Hill, MD, Curtis and Susan Cohen of Havre de Grace, MD, and the late Michael Cohen. He was the adored grandfather of Grace Merchlinski, Zachary Halbrook, Peter Halbrook, Julia Halbrook, Eleanor Cohen, Josephine Cohen, Hannah Cohen, Eliza Cohen, Sam Cohen, Lindsey Cohen and Ethan Cohen, and great-grandfather of two great-grandchildren. He was the dear brother of Leonard Holbrook and Anita Brown of St. Louis, MO. He also leaves behind his beloved dog, Bogey.

Mr. Cohen was the Chief of Plans and Operations at Aberdeen Proving Ground; retiring after 39 years of service. He was the oldest living Past Master Mason from the Aberdeen Lodge of Ancient Free and Accepted Masons. He was an avid animal lover and enjoyed genealogy.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2013, from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Webster Congregational United Church of Christ, 4100 Webster Road, Havre de Grace, MD. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM. Rev. Ellen Witko will officiate.
