Nitin Manohar Moholkar of Havre de Grace, MD passed away unexpectedly on May 23, 2020 at the Harford Memorial Hospital.
He was born in India, but raised in Sayreville, NJ. He is survived by his parents Raju and Nisha Moholkar. He was the loving brother and brother-in-law of Ashish and Elise Moholkar. He was the devoted uncle of Sydney, Adam, and Paige Moholkar. He was deeply loved by his many other nieces and nephews, as well as his large extended family. All the kids couldn’t wait to play with him and fought for his attention. Everyone wanted to sit next to him at the dinner table.
Nitin graduated as the salutatorian from Sayreville War Memorial High School. He continued with his education at Johns Hopkins University. He was an absolutely brilliant man, earning his PhD in biomechanical engineering from the University of California, Berkeley. As smart and talented as he was, he enjoyed conversations that ranged from complex math to comic books and cartoons. He knew every funny movie line and could weave them into everyday conversation. He enjoyed all outdoor activities like skiing and biking, but particularly looked forward to his weekly trivia night gatherings.
He was a devoted family man, who enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He had the kindest heart and infectious personality. He spread happiness to all who knew him.

Nitin and I went to SWMHS together. A few years ago my family went back to NJ. Nitin, Erich, Aaron, and I met at a diner to catch up and play cards like we used to during lunch break in high school.

As you get older, you grow to appreciate friendships from the past. I will miss my friend.

I will miss Nit. I've worked with him since 2013. He was a subject matter expert. He was humorous and witty. He was enjoyable to work with and always brought his A game. I hope he knows just how truly loved he was while he was with us. He will never be forgotten. Sincerely, Stephanie

I was a housemate with Nit in Oakland, California, for two and a half years, while he was pursuing his PhD and lab research at UC Berkeley. A friend of mine and I were connected with Nit through a post looking for a housemate, and we could not have found a nicer or more fun-loving person to share space with. "The Compound", as we called it, had all kinds of quirks - my bedroom didn't have real walls so it was not well sound-proofed; the second bedroom was in a converted garage; and Nit's bedroom, while large and sunny, required walking down an exterior staircase to access the bathroom or shower... yet in two and a half years of living with Nit, I don't ever remember him complaining about the funky living arrangement... he was just an optimistic and fun housemate.

Even though I had been out of touch with Nit for a number of years, I was shocked and saddened to hear about his passing... sending deepest condolences to Nit's family and friends in this difficult time.
