Obituary for Rex A Tillman

Rex A. Tillman “Pete”, 70, of Edgewood, MD, formerly of Havre de Grace, passed away
peacefully at home on July 12, 2023.

Born in North Carolina on March 30, 1953, Rex was the son of the late Henry and Helen Weaver
Tillman. He was the final child born of 3, and preceded in death by his brother William “Buddy” Tillman.
Rex put down roots in Havre de Grace where he would meet the love of his life, Edna Tillman.
They had 21 beautiful years together. They loved to spend their time at Hunters Sale Barn, family
cookouts, or resting on the porch of their home until she would precede him in death in 2019.

Rex was very well known and well loved all throughout the Havre de Grace and Aberdeen area.
He drove a taxicab for Montville Taxi, Victory Cab in the early 2000’s. He would eventually become the
tow truck operator for Andrews Garage for many years working alongside HDG Police Department and
HDG Fire Department. He was forced to retire in 2014 when he was diagnosed with lung cancer, but
even after retirement, he remained helpful to his friends, and any person in need. Whether it was
loaning his truck and time for a friend, mowing grass for someone who couldn't, or helping a stranger
with car trouble, “Pete” was there in a heartbeat ready for the simple reward of friendship. He loved to
make jokes and laugh with friends and family. If you knew Rex, you knew his smile is something you
could never forget – a wholesome, pure grin and that loving grin will live on in our memories forever.

Rex was a member of Room at the Cross Mission Church where he attended faithfully for 15+
years. Rex grew his relationship with God, and relationships with his fellow parishioners. He gained
beloved brothers, Pastor Bob Savage, Dale Hudson, and many sisters - Tina Long, Joan White, Jeanne
Weaver, who he absolutely cherished. He spent a lot of his time doing anything he could for the church
such as mowing the grass and providing security. Rex will be dearly missed by his church family to
whom he was devoted.

Surviving to cherish his memory are his loving daughters Emily Tillman and Charlotte
Ebbenhouse; his granddaughter Lily Ebbenhouse; his sister Katie Coffing; and nieces and nephews Billy
and Joann Coffing, Allen and Missy Coffing; loving friends, Elouise Williams, Randi Tillman, Linda Boothe,
Jackie Blessing, Billy Bauer, and so many more.

In addition to his parents, brother, and wife, Rex was preceded in death by Krystal Austin
(daughter), John Ebbenhouse (son in law), and Eddie Gemmill (best friend)..

A celebration of Rex’s life will be held at Room at the Cross at a later date. Flowers can be sent
to the Room at the Cross Mission Church: 429 North Stokes, Havre de Grace MD 21078.
