Obituary for Richard Carl MacDonald
Richard Carl MacDonald, of Rising Sun, MD, passed away on November 9, 2022. He was 93.
Mr. MacDonald was born in Rising Sun, MD, to Rexford Glenn MacDonald and Mary Ascenith Talbot MacDonald. He was the devoted husband of Gloria Lilly MacDonald, loving uncle of Marilyn MacDonald Wilson, Anita MacDonald Bauer, Annette MacDonald Steele, Ann MacDonald, Mary Ann Thompson, James MacDonald, Bob MacDonald, Darryl Bolen, Debbie Campbell, John MacDonald, Alvin MacDonald, and the late Dennis Bolen, Sr., all of whom were like children to him. He was the brother of George MacDonald and the late Robert MacDonald, Ralph MacDonald, and Mary Anne Tharp. He is also survived by several great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great nieces, and great-great nephews.
Mr. MacDonald helped manage the family dairy farm in Rising Sun. He worked for General Motors in Wilmington, DE for 30 years. He was a Charter Member, Leader, Deacon, and Elder of First Christian Church in Havre de Grace, MD. He was a member of the Farm Bureau and 4H and showed steers and hogs. Mr. MacDonald also enjoyed traveling and was a member of Young at Heart.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, November 17, 2022, from 11 AM until 12 PM, at First Christian Church, 800 Giles Street, Havre de Grace, MD. Funeral services will begin at 12 PM, at church. Rev Darryl Bolen and Rev. Kirk Bolen will officiate. Interment will be held at Mt. Christian Church Cemetery, Joppa, MD.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to First Christian Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 127, Havre de Grace, MD 21078.
