Obituary for Robert Allen Levy
Robert Allen Levy, of Havre de Grace, MD, passed away on May 17, 2022. He was 79.
Mr. Levy was born in Baltimore, MD, to Ben Levy and Mildred Statter Levy. He was the beloved husband of 34 years to Ruth Marie Nickolai-Levy, loving father of Kim Tanzer, Jill Murphy (Michael), and Alyssa Lanot (Paul), grandfather of Devin Shaughnessy, Troy Tanzer, Olivia Tanzer, Braeden Tanzer, Shane Taylor and Justin Lanot. He was the brother of Arlyn Simons and Brian Levy.
Mr. Levy was a 1959 graduate of City College. He earned an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration from University of Maryland. He was extremely involved in the Celiac Community, being a pioneer in bringing Celiac disease to light in the US and helping establish the Center for Celiac Research at the University of Maryland. He and his wife owned and operated Bob and Ruth’s Gluten Free Dining and Travel Club for twenty-five plus years giving thousands the opportunity to travel while being ensured that their meals were safe and gluten free. He enjoyed going out to eat with family and friends, watching the Orioles win, and traveling the world.
