Robert Louis Turgon, of Perryville, MD, passed away on July 30, 2023. He was 74 years old.
Bob was born in Akron, OH, to Louis Albert Turgon and Vivian Hileman Turgon. He was the devoted husband of 51 years to Priscilla VanDoros Turgon, the loving father of Jessica Turgon (James Babalitis), and Sarah Hughes (Colin), and grandfather of Jason Babalitis, Michael Babalitis, Liam Hughes, and Rion Hughes. He was the brother of Michael Turgon (Jollie), Tonya Spires (Gary), Deborah Price (Bill), and Marianne Cline (Don).
Bob served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War where he developed his leadership skills and was proud to have kept each member of his squad alive. Like his father and uncles, Bob started his career in manufacturing at General Tire. He quickly advanced to become a plant manager and was promoted to leadership positions in California, Kentucky, Delaware, Virginia, and New Hampshire. He excelled at building teams and improving operations. Bob loved boating, especially driving his wife, Priscilla, through waterski courses on the Susquehanna River. He was an avid reader, a great fan of the Hallmark channel, and an accomplished small-scale military modeler. His greatest joy, second only to his love for Priscilla, was seeing his grandsons grow up. He loved watching them wrestle and play sports, teaching them how to play poker and euchre, and remarking to all about his "great boys." He was thrilled by the addition of his four grandsons and two sons-in-law and told everyone he met that he had won the lottery because of his wonderful family.
Bob’s Celebration of Life will be Saturday, September 30th, 2023, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the Market Street Brewery at 203 Market Street, Havre de Grace, Maryland.
In memory of Bob, we ask for donations to the American Red Cross. Donated blood saved Bob’s life more than once, and we would appreciate your contribution.
