Samuel Robert Sampson
Samuel Robert Sampson, of Havre de Grace, MD, passed away on November 27, 2017. He was 79. Mr. Sampson was born in Havre de Grace, MD, to William Edward Sampson and Catherine Walker Sampson. He was the devoted husband of 30 years to Dorothy “Dottie” Jeanne Sampson (nee Lay), loving father of Robert E. Sampson and his wife Susan of Aberdeen, MD, Charlotte Sampson McFarland and her husband Larry of Havre de Grace, MD, Samantha Sampson Scott and her husband Kenneth of Port Deposit, MD, Nancy Barr Urso of Port St. Lucie, FL, and Ronald W. Barr and his husband Darren Frymoyer of Port St. Lucie, FL. Mr. Sampson was the adored grandfather of Lyndsey Scott, Stephanie Urso, Kasey Sampson, Kelsey Sampson, Sarah Urso, Kory Sampson, Nicole McFarland, and Owen Scott, and great-grandfather of Joseph Anthony Privett, III, and Anthony Joseph Algarin, Jr. He was the brother of Eveyln Hendrix, Sue Lingenfelter, Kay Schnell, and the late William Sampson, James Sampson, and Shirley Mann.
Mr. Sampson was a Letter Carrier for 40 years in Havre de Grace for the U.S. Postal Service. He was a Life Member of the Havre de Grace ELKS Lodge and the Postal Union. He enjoyed golfing, carving and woodworking, bike riding, traveling, and loafing. He especially like walking the promenade.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, November 30, 2017, from 2-4 and 6-8 PM, at Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., 123 S. Washington Street, Havre de Grace, MD. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 1, 2017, at 11:00 AM, at the funeral home. Greg Sampson and David Schnell will officiate. Interment will be held at Harford Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Robert Sampson, Kenneth Scott, Larry McFarland, Ronald Barr, Darren Frymoyer, Kory Sampson, and Owen Scott.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to Humane Society of Harford County, 2208 Connolly Road, Fallston, MD 21047.
