Obituary for Sharon Hodges (DeBonis)

Sharon (DeBonis) Hodges of Aberdeen, MD passed away on December 4, 2023, at the Senator Bob Hooper House in Forest Hill, MD at the age of 75. She was the wife of the late Michael J. Hodges.
Born in Havre de Grace, MD to the late Nicholas and Grace (Batten) DeBonis. She was the devoted mother of Amy Hodges (Brett Dawson) and Justin Hodges, and loved her grand dog, Bubba. Her role as a mother was what she cherished the most. She is survived by her brother Rodney DeBonis (Monica); her cousin, Carol Hawkins Huna (Mark); and best friend, LeeAnn Klinger (Dan). She played an instrumental role in the lives of Caroline and Owen Klinger to whom she was dearly known as Sha Sha. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Upon her graduation from Havre de Grace High School, she went on to further her higher education at Towson University, graduating with her master’s degree in education. She taught third grade for more than seventeen years at Good Shepherd Catholic School in Perryville, MD and served as principal for eight years before retiring. Sharon loved teaching, education, and the children whose lives that she was able to be a part of. She was the biggest cheerleader, the greatest supporter, and a solid foundation of love for all who touched her heart. Sharon loved crafting, reading, dancing, country music, and spending time at the beach. She has fond memories of trips to Ocean City, MD; Englewood Beach, FL; and Stone Harbor, NJ.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at 11 A.M. at the Zellman Funeral Home, P.A, 123 S. Washington St., Havre de Grace, MD 21078, with a funeral service to follow at 12 P.M. The service will be officiated by Father Jay R. McKee of Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Perryville, MD.
Sharon’s family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the wonderful professionals at the Bob Hooper Hospice House in Forest Hill, MD.
Interment will be at Harford Memorial Garden, Aberdeen, MD.
