Obituary

Virginia “Gynne” Lee Banks (nee Davis), of Rising Sun, MD, passed away on August 8, 2020. She was 80.
Mrs. Banks was born in Alfred, Maine, to Kenneth Lee Davis and Myrtle Klein Davis. She was the devoted wife of 61 years to Oliver “Bobby” Banks, loving mother of Della Scott (Gary) of Newark, DE, and Keith Banks (Andrea Foster), Crofton, MD, grandmother of Rhiannon Scott Barlow (Stephen), Addison Scott (Megan), Ashley Banks Boswell (Jordan), Caroline Foster, Katelyn Foster and Campbell Banks, and great-grandmother of Max, Lincoln, and Harrison Barlow. She was the sister of Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Rion of Clearbrook, VA.
As a young family of 4 they moved to Newark, DE in 1965 and stayed in the area until settling in Rising Sun, MD to enjoy their golden years.
Gynne, having been a Girl Scout herself became an active volunteer leader continuing well after her children had grown and started families of their own. She served as the business manager for a summer day camp at Country Center Girl Scout Camp in Yorklyn, DE for many years where her growing family would gather to help out.
Always an avid lover of needle work she grew increasingly dedicated to sewing and then to quilting. She enjoyed meeting new people and was always grateful for the many enduring friendships.
Gynne was a member of Janes United Methodist Church.
Services will be private.
