Obituary for William L. "Bill" Dill

William L. "Bill"  Dill
William L. Dill of Port Deposit, MD passed away at home on Thursday, January 4, 2018. He was 62 years old.

Mr. Dill was born in Glen Burnie, Maryland to the late Lawrence W. and Marion (Eli) Dill. Mr. Dill was raised by his Aunt and Uncle, Barbara and Wade Dill of Fallston, MD. He was the devoted husband to Janet Sale Dill for 21 years. He was the adoring father to Carrie Ann Dill and Susan LeAnne Dill Singleton. He was the loving grandfather to Harper Marcella Singleton and Avery Risper Singleton. He was the beloved brother to Susan Detweiller, Amy Kraft, Martha Wortman, Douglas Dill and the late Larry Dill.

Bill served in the United States Army during Vietnam, where he was awarded 2 Vietnam Medals of Valiantry, and a Meritorious Unit Citation along with a Bronze Star. He was a member and 3 Year President of the Water Witch Fire Department. Bill was a member and 9 Year President of the Red Knights Motorcycle Club MD Chapter 6. Bill devoted and served 29 years as a Havre de Grace Police officer starting his career as a K-9 handler and after many years on the force retired as a Corporal in the CID. Bill was also a member of the Havre de Grace Dive Team from 1987-2007. He was a member of the Harvard Associate of Police Science, Harley Owners Group, and The Fraternal Order of Police. He was an avid Boston Red Sox Fan, Minnesota Vikings Fan and John Wayne Fan. He was deeply supportive of the Native Americans and the cowboy way.

A viewing will be held on Friday, January 12, 2018 from 2 to 4 P.M. and 6 to 9 P.M. at Pleasant View Baptist Church, 150 Downing Lane, Port Deposit, MD 21904.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 11 A.M. at Pleasant View Baptist Church. Officiating services will be Pastor Harold Phillips.
