2LT William Scott Kilmon, 23, tragically passed away on 02 Oct 2022 from injuries sustained in a car accident near Ft Benning, GA. Billy was born on 20 Nov 1998 near Petersburg, VA and later lived at Fort Lee, VA, Ft Leavenworth, KS and Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD.
He had recently completed the Infantry Officer Basic Leadership Course and the Basic Airborne Course and was preparing to enter Ranger School in early October. Billy was very much looking forward to his first assignment to the recently reactivated 11th Airborne Division near Fairbanks, Alaska.
Billy attended the Science and Math Academy at Aberdeen High School where he was a varsity football and lacrosse player. He later attended West Virginia University where he graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering. This past summer he passed his Fundamentals of Engineering Exam and was hoping to someday work as an Engineer. Billy was commissioned from the ROTC program at WVU in Dec of 2021 as a distinguished military graduate recognizing him as part of the top 20 percent of all ROTC cadets in the country.
Billy loved to fish, crab, hunt, and boat on the Chesapeake Bay. He lived life to the fullest and seized every possible minute to enjoy the things he loved to do with the family and friends.
Billy has many family and friends who will miss him dearly. He is survived by his great grandmother Dorothy Fraschetta, grandparents Patty and Tommy Fraschetta, Scott and Susan Kilmon, Uncle Thomas Fraschetta, Uncle Steve Kilmon and Aunt Deena, Uncle Tom Leahan and Aunt Dana, and cousins Shelby, Taylor, TJ, Nikolas, Sarah, and Ellie.
His father LTC(R) Scott Kilmon, mother Dawn, brother Jake, and sister Maggie love him more than life itself are heartbroken that his young life ended so abruptly and will forever be thankful for the time that we were able to spend with William “Billy” Scott Kilmon, #Rooster88
Take Me Home, Country Roads
Billy’s family will host an open casket viewing from 10AM until 11 AM. The casket will then be closed for visitation from 11 AM until 12:00 PM. and a Celebration of Life at noon on Saturday, 15 October 2022 at St. Patrick’s Hall, located at 615 Pennington Avenue, Havre de Grace, MD 21078. In lieu of sending flowers, the family is currently researching non-profit organizations that support hunting and fishing and will publish this information at a later time.
