It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of Barbara Lynn Kelly, who left us peacefully on April 19, 2025, at the age of 72. Born in Havre de Grace, Maryland, to the late Clyde Jefferson and Mildred (McMillan) Kelly. and spent her life dedicated to her family and her work in civil service as a Citizenship Officer for the Immigration & Naturalization Services. She was a 1970 graduate of Havre de Grace High School.
Barbara dedicated her career to serving her community and nation as a Citizenship Officer with the Immigration & Naturalization Services. Her unwavering commitment to helping others will be remembered as a testament to her compassionate spirit and dedication to public service.
She is survived by her beloved son, Thomas Kushnerick, and daughter-in-law, Machelle Kushnerick, who will always cherish the love and wisdom she imparted. Barbara was also a loving grandmother to her three grandchildren, Kylee, Chloe, and Josiah Kushnerick, who will carry her memory in their hearts forever. Additionally, she is survived by her nephew, Sean Carroll.
Barbara had a zest for life that was truly infectious. A true Marylander at heart, she was an avid fan of the Baltimore Orioles and Aberdeen IronBirds, finding joy in cheering for her teams as they took to the field. She particularly loved watching movies, with a special fondness for flicks featuring her favorite actor, Hugh Jackman. Barbara often sought solace in the beauty of nature, delighting in visits to Rehoboth Beach and relishing her favorite Crabby Cakes, and a visit to the Arctic Circle.
A celebration of Barbara's life is planned for her family and friends. A visitation will be held on Sunday, May 25, from 2-3 PM, with funeral services beginning at 3 PM, at Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., 927 Pulaski Highway, Havre de Grace, MD. All who knew her are invited to join in honoring the beautiful legacy she leaves behind.
Barbara's warmth, kindness, and spirited enthusiasm will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
