Bessie Marie Bowman, a cherished member of the Havre De Grace community, passed away peacefully from natural causes on November 7, 2024, at her residence in Havre De Grace, MD at the age of 91. Born on March 2, 1933, in Havre De Grace, MD, Bessie was a compassionate and dedicated individual who touched the lives of many during her lifetime.

Bessie's passion for serving her community was evident throughout her career, beginning as a clerk-stenographer at Aberdeen Proving Ground before transitioning to become an APG Fire Department Paramedic in 1985. A trailblazer in her own right, Bessie was a Charter Member of the Level Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, a position she held proudly since May 7, 1953. Her unwavering dedication led her to become one of the first females to join the fire company on April 5, 1977, where she rose through the ranks to become a paramedic. Bessie's contributions were exemplary, with her leadership as Ambulance Lieutenant and Captain, as well as earning esteemed top responder awards over the years.

Bessie was also very active in her church, Webster Congregational Christian Church, and enjoyed shopping and gardening.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving son William Bowman, (Beth), son Michael Bowman (Bobbi), grandchildren Jacob Bowman (Michelle), Rachel Johnson (Norm), Kyle Bowman (Vanessa), Mason Klug, April Hall, and Paige and Patrick Brinsfield, great-grandchildren Kaleb Bowman, Miles Johnson, and Emrik Klug, brother Frank Curry (Jackie), and sister Evelyn Mahan (Melvin) and sister-in-law Mitzie Curry.
