It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Billie Jean Owens, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who departed this life on July 18, 2026, at the age of 81. Billie was born on April 4, 1945, in Havre De Grace, Maryland, where she would eventually build a life full of love and cherished memories.
Billie dedicated a significant part of her career to the beverage industry, working for notable companies including A&P and Pepsi-Cola Corporation. Her warmth and dedicated spirit shone through in her role in inside sales, where she fostered connections with colleagues and customers alike.
A proud member of the American Legion Post 47 Auxiliary, Billie exemplified the values of community and service. In her spare time, she found joy in playing the slot machines at the casino, relishing the thrill and excitement they brought.
Billie is survived by her daughters, Dana Bruno (Scott) and Lisa Thomas (David); her grandchildren, Matthew Scott Bruno II (Stephanie); and Jacob Robert Bruno (Jackie), and great-grandchildren, Hunter Bruno and Ella Wells. Her family was her greatest joy, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Billie was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Robert Owens, her parents, William Walter Smith and Ruth Taylor Smith, and her sister, Mabel Culley.
Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of Billie at her funeral service, which will take place at Zellman Funeral Home, P.A. on July 22, 2026, at 7:00 PM. Prior to the service, a public viewing will be held at the same location from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. As we come together to celebrate Billie's life, let us remember the laughter, love, and kindness she shared with us all.
In our hearts, Billie's spirit will live on, enriching our lives with the memories we hold dear.
Contributions may be made in her memory to Tunnels to Towers Foundation.
