Obituary

Bonnie Lee Babec-Hardin-Pastelak, a beacon of adventure and spirit, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2024, in York, PA, at the age of 81. Born on November 3, 1942, in Havre de Grace, MD, Bonnie's vivacious personality and courageous heart left a mark on everyone she met.

Bonnie's life was one of constant motion and joy. She was an avid tennis player, whose love for the game was only matched by her skill on the court. With a private pilot license, she soared above the clouds and shared her passion for flight by taking her family to numerous air shows. Her zest for life was further exemplified by her love for hiking, embracing the beauty of nature with every step.

Her musical talents echoed through the halls of Harford Community College Band, where she played the flute with grace and precision. Bonnie also spread joy through dance, teaching line dancing at various community centers, and her love for horseback riding further showcased her adventurous spirit. The saying that "no grass grew under her feet" could not have been more fitting for someone who lived life so fully.

Professionally, Bonnie dedicated many years to the field of mortgage titling, where her sharp mind and meticulous attention to detail were greatly valued. Her commitment to her work was paralleled by her involvement in various associations, where she was respected and admired by her colleagues.

She was the cherished matriarch of a family that adored her. Bonnie leaves behind her beloved family members: Mickey Hardin and wife Cheri of Aberdeen, Sherry Orem and husband John of Perryville, and her treasured grandchildren Mitchell Hardin, Leah Hardin, Brian Schweers and wife Colleen, and Cael Orem and wife Jordan. Each of them carries a piece of Bonnie's indomitable spirit and love for life.

Bonnie's life was a testament to the words of Helen Keller, "Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all." This quote resonates with the way Bonnie lived every day—a life filled with daring, laughter, and an unwavering courage to embrace all of life's experiences.

Bonnie's passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew her, but her legacy of courage, adventure, and unbridled spirit will continue to inspire and guide her family and friends. She showed us all how to live a life without boundaries, to seize every opportunity, and to face challenges with a smile.

As we bid farewell to Bonnie Lee Pastelak, we celebrate the extraordinary life she led and the countless memories she created with those who were fortunate enough to know her. Her story does not end here, for her spirit will forever soar in the skies and dance in the hearts of her loved ones. Bonnie's journey through life was a remarkable one, and she will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
