Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Carol Ann Hoeck, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who departed this life peacefully on February 4, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on March 23, 1946, in Baltimore, Maryland, Carol dedicated her life to her family and community, leaving behind a legacy of love and passion.

Carol is survived by her devoted husband, Michael Hoeck; her children, Samuel Kirkendall, Jr., Taryn Marron, Amy Norkitis, Beth Hartshorn, and Molly Dixon; her cherished grandchildren, Calvin Marron, Chase Marron, Christian Kirkendall, Sebastian Norkitis, Simon Norkitis, Abi Hartshorn, Maggie Hartshorn, Wade Dixon and Nora Dixon.; and her loving brothers, John Baynes (Susie) and Charles Baynes (Patricia). She is also survived by her sister-in-law Theresa Baynes. Her family was the center of her world, and she relished every moment spent with them, attending their activities and celebrations with overwhelming pride and joy.

With an unwavering spirit, Carol worked as a Legal Secretary and Real Estate Secretary for Harford Gunpowder Saving and Loan, and went on to own and operate At Your Service Real Estate Services. She also lent her skills to The Jack Russell Terriers Club, demonstrating her commitment to the community in every endeavor she pursued.

An avid horse rider from the age of seven, Carol was an active member of the Amateur Jousting Club of Maryland for over 30 years, showcasing her love for the sport. She shared many adventures with Michael, clocking over 75,000 miles riding motorcycles together and enjoying the open road as members of the Harley Davidson Chesapeake Chapter. A passionate camper, she felt at home with nature and was a proud member of the Orioles Ramblers Camping Club.

Carol's faith was an integral part of her life as a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, where she found strength and community. She and Michael shared the joy of restoring and rebuilding their farmhouse together, a testament to their enduring love and partnership.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at 10:00 AM, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 615 Congress Avenue, Havre de Grace, MD 21078.

A celebration of Carol's life will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 11:00 AM, at Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., 927 Pulaski Highway, Havre de Grace, MD. Friends and family are invited to gather to share memories, honor her remarkable journey, and find comfort in each other's company.

Carol will forever be remembered for her kindness, her adventurous spirit, and her unwavering love for her family and friends. May her memory be a blessing to all who knew her.

Carol was preceded in death by her father, John William Baynes, Sr., mother, Marie Elizabeth Baynes, and brother William Baynes.
