Charlotte R. May "Charlie" Barker
Charlotte R. May "Charlie" Barker, of Havre de Grace, MD, passed away on January 15, 2013.She was 65.
She was born in Landenberg, PA, to the late Emanuel H. May, Sr., and the late Myrtle Blanche Loggins May.
She was the devoted wife of Philip J. Barker for 35 years. She was the loving mother of Tia Rene' Edwards of Havre de Grace, MD, Kevin M. Barker and his wife Hope of Evans, GA, and Lisa Ellen Zaloudek and her husband Rusty of Kremlin, OK. She was the adored grandmother of Taylor Nicole Edwards, Brooke Mackenzie Edwards, and Matthew Philip Edwards of Havre de Grace, MD, Tyler Austin Barker and Lindsey Amber Barker of Evans, GA, Christopher Michael Staudenecker, Kelsey Marie Staudenecker, Zachary Zaloudek and Nathan Zaloudek of Kremlin, OK, and great-grandmother of Cade Michael Staudenecker. She was the dear sister of John W. May, Norman and Bonnie May, David and Karen May, Randy and Donna May, Paul May, Dottie and Raiford Edwards, Betty and Tom Zellman, Ruby "Carol" and Lloyd Beavers, Paula and Joe Rice, Pam and Mike Barranco, Teresa Bond, Kathy Brackbill, and the late Emanuel H. May, Jr. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Levin L. Barker, Jr. and his wife Rita, and sisters-in-law Korean May and Alberta "Bertie" May.
"Charlie" graduated from Havre de Grace High School in 1965 and was active in all of her class reunions. She was a banker for several years and owned several businesses in Havre de Grace. She last worked for Dr. Kamrudin Mithani as his office manager, where she loved assisting patients and taking care of people. She volunteered with several organizations in Havre de Grace. She was a member of the Havre de Grace Chamber of Commerce, where she served on the Board of Directors, Soroptimist Club, Financial Women, Ladies of the Elks, Harford County Democratic Central Committee, Havre de Grace High School Alumni Association, Havre de Grace United Methodist Church and its Board of Trustees.
"Charlie" loved to travel with her husband Phil and often visited her step-son, Kevin, and his family in Hawaii, her step-daughter Lisa and her family in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and France. "Charlie", Phil and children often traveled all over the country with families and close friends for joyous vacations. During some of those vacations, she became and avid golfer and skier, always being the first to the bottom of the mountain. She loved Disney World, where she and her husband often went to play like kids. She never said no to anyone who needed help. She was always so generous to those in need. She truly was a loving and caring person.
A viewing will be held on Friday, January18, 2013 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., 123 South Washington Street, Havre de Grace, MD. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 19, 2013, at 10:30 AM, at Havre de Grace United Methodist Church, 101 South Union Avenue, Havre de Grace, MD.
