Clyde Viola Mabe
Clyde Viola Mabe, of Havre de Grace, MD, passed away on January 4, 2011 at Citizens Care Center. She was 88.
She was born in Elk Creek, NC, to the late Dency Andy Richardson and Zollie Nichols Richardson.
Mrs. Mabe was the devoted wife of the late Wiley Edison Mabe. She was the loving mother of Larry Alan and his wife Barbara Louise Mabe of Havre de Grace, MD. She was the adored grandmother of Jeremy Alan Mabe and his girlfriend Jennifer Wise of Aberdeen, Maryland, and Nicole Annette Mabe and her partner Tena Law of Havre de Grace, Maryland. She was the sister of Amos Richardson and his wife Iola of Perryman, MD, Mildred Hime of Bel Air, MD, Laura Jean Emerson and her husband James of Havre de Grace, MD, and Carol Mays and husband Frank of Bel Air, MD. Mrs. Mabe is also survived by her dog Spot.
Mrs. Mabe worked as a seamstress for a hosiery factory in High Point, North Carolina. After moving to Maryland she worked for Bata Shoe Company, then at the Bata General Store located in the old hotel. She spent several years working part time for Harford County Public Schools as a cook and baker. She enjoyed the outdoors. She liked fishing, hiking and family picnics. She excelled as a gardener and canner of fruits and vegetables. She was an avid birdwatcher, and loved to see local bald eagles. She was also a collector of vintage bottles, glassware and ornamental bells.
A viewing will be held on Friday, January 7, from 6-8 PM, and on Saturday, January 8, from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM, at Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., 123 South Washington Street, Havre de Grace, Maryland. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 8, 11:00 AM, at the funeral home. Pastor Gary Sieglein will officiate. Interment will be held at Rock Run Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Clarence Ross, Randy Childress, Daniel Hawkins, Steve Mabe and Jeff Rowe.
