Clyde Lewis Smith
Clyde Lewis "Smitty" Smith of Havre de Grace died at HarfordMemorialHospital on January 20, 2008. He was 77.
Born on May 10, 1930, in Manor Township, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the Late James Clyde and Bessie Choate Smith. He was the husband of Ana Marie Butler Smith to whom he was married for 56 years.
Mr. Smith was a long time resident of HarfordCounty. He attended ChurchvilleElementary School and graduated from AberdeenHigh School in the class of 1947. He served in the U. S. Merchant Marines from 1948 to 1952. He retired in 1986 from Aberdeen Proving Ground after 33 years of service. Before he became ill, he worked part-time delivering auto parts for Advance Auto in Aberdeen.
Mr. Smith was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Havre de Grace for over 50 years. He was very active on the Board of Trustees and was a member of the choir.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons: Greg Smith and his wife, Phyllis, of Bel Air, Maryland and Mike Smith and his wife, Sheila, of Prairieville, Louisiana; and a grandson, Shaun Smith of Wilmington, Delaware. He is also survived by two brothers: Clarence Smith and his wife, Pauline, of Creswell, MD, Ray Smith of Middle River, MD and a sister-in-law, Edna Smith of Aberdeen, MD.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Smith was predeceased by two brothers, Donald Smith and Woodrow Ralph Smith and a sister, Ruth Ann Ray.
Visitation will be Friday, January 25, 2008 from 7 to 9 PM at the Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., 123 S. Washington Street, Havre de Grace, Maryland 21078.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2008 at 11 AM at the Presbyterian Church of Havre de Grace, 551 Franklin Street, Havre de Grace, MD. Officiating will be the Rev. Jane Day Stover.
Interment will follow at HarfordMemorialGardens.
