Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Daniel Eugene Workman Sr., who departed from this life on May 5, 2026, at Walter Reed Military Medical Center, in Bethesda, Maryland. Born on June 25, 1954, in the small town of Chapmanville, West Virginia, residing in Cecil County, Maryland for the past 42 years. Daniel lived a life filled with love, laughter, and a passion for the great outdoors.

Daniel was a dedicated heavy equipment operator, working for York Building Products for ten years, then spending twenty-three years at Maryland Materials, Inc. contributing his skills to the construction industry throughout his life. He took great pride in his work and was respected and well known for his expertise and tireless dedication. His family will always remember him as a loving father and grandfather, who cherished every moment spent with his sons, Daniel Workman Jr. (Tina) and Jeffrey Workman (Courtney), as well as his grandchildren Tony Davisson, Hanna Workman, Jeffrey Workman Jr., and Julianna Workman.

An avid hunter and fisherman, Daniel found joy in the solitude of nature, exploring the woods and waterways with friends and family. His enthusiasm extended to the thrill of breeding and competition of game birds, a passion that brought him together with a community that shared his interests. He also took immense pride in his garden, where he nurtured not only plants but memories with those he loved. Daniel served in the U.S. Army for almost 4 years.

Daniel is survived by his beloved sons, his cherished grandchildren, and his siblings, Richard Workman, Dennie Workman, and Ada Scarbarry, 8 nieces and nephews, and many great-nieces and nephews, all of whom will hold his memory close to their hearts. Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, William G. Workman, Sr., and Lucy J. Wheatley Workman, and siblings, William Workman and Wanda Chapman.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at a public viewing scheduled for May 12, 2026, at 6:00 PM at Zellman Funeral Home, P.A. A funeral service honoring Daniel's life will take place on May 13, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the same location. We encourage all who knew him to join us in celebrating a life well-lived and to share stories that reflect the warmth and joy Daniel brought into our lives.

In this time of sorrow, we find solace in the memories we hold dear and the legacy of love he leaves behind. Rest in peace, Daniel Eugene Workman Sr. You will be profoundly missed, but never forgotten.
