Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of David Scott Clark, who left this world on October 18, 2025, just days before his 81st birthday. David's career spanned more than 40 years in public education while his spare time was filled attending and working at sporting events.

He was born on October 22, 1944, in Indiana, Pa., and spent most of his adult life living in and around Havre de Grace, Md. He is survived by his three children - Scott Clark of Havre de Grace, Michael Clark (Kelli) of Yorktown, Ind., and Emily Armes (Ethan) of Baldwin, Md., and four grandchildren - Avery, Nolan, Charlotte and Caroline.

David also leaves behind his three siblings - Georgia Ann Wensell (John), Renny Clark (Linda) and Sally Bossert (Mike). He was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon Oscar Clark and Sara Brock Clark.

David had a true passion for sports. Growing up, he played Pony League baseball before going on to compete in high school varsity baseball as an infielder. In college at Slippery Rock University, he served as a manager for the football team for three years. In his senior year, David stepped up as Slippery Rock's punter where he averaged 36.5 yards per punt, and for several years held the record for longest punt (75 yards).

Shortly after graduating college, David began his teaching career at Aberdeen High School in the fall of 1966. He worked 45 years at Aberdeen H.S., mostly as a geography teacher. He also spent time as the work experience coordinator late in his career before officially retiring in July 2011.

David filled much of his time following retirement working at sporting events. He served as an usher at the University of Delaware football and basketball games as well as the Aberdeen Iron Birds (minor league baseball) contests. He first worked as a sports usher in the late 1970s and early 1980s for the Baltimore Orioles at Memorial Stadium.

In honor of David's life and legacy, a public viewing will be held at the Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., in Havre de Grace, Md., on October 31, 2025, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., followed by a funeral service beginning at 11:30 a.m. Family and friends are invited to join together to celebrate his life and share cherished memories.

A graveside service will take place at Oakmont Cemetery in Waynesburg, Pa., on November 1, 2025, at 2 p.m., where David will be laid to rest next to his parents.
