Doris W. Glassman

Doris W. Glassman, 79, of Havre de Grace, passed away on July 10, 2010, at CalvertManorHealthcareCenter in Rising Sun, MD. She was the loving wife of the late Earl L. Glassman, to whom she was married for 57 years. Mrs. Glassman is survived by six children: son John Glassman and his wife Sara of Street, MD; son Jim Glassman of Lorton, VA; son Ken Glassman and his wife Tina of Bel Air, MD; and son Bob Glassman and his wife Judy, daughter Janet Dill, and son TC Glassman, all of Havre de Grace, MD. Her son Tom Glassman preceded her in death. She had 6 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Mrs. Glassman was a homemaker and avid crotchetier, and a lifelong resident of Havre de Grace, where she was active in the Susquehanna Hose Company Ladies Auxiliary and the Harford County Volunteer Fire Association Ladies Auxiliary. She served terms as President for both organizations. Mrs. Glassman was a member of the Havre de GraceUnitedMethodistChurch where she taught elementary Sunday school for many years, and a life member of the Havre de Grace VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Early in her life, she worked at the Bata Shoe Company in Riverside; she also volunteered at the Hirsch Eye Group for several years after her children were grown. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, July 13, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM, at Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., 123 South Washington Street, Havre de Grace, MD. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 14, at 11:00AM, at the Funeral Home. Rev. Ray Roberson will officiate. Pallbearers will be Christian, John, James, Ken, Bob and T.C. Glassman. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to the Calvert Manor Residents' Council Nursing Scholarship Fund, 1881 Telegraph Road, Rising Sun, MD 21911.
