Doris Mackin
Doris M. Mackin, 82, of Clearwater, FL and of Havre de Grace, MD, passed away April 1, 2008 at her home in Florida. She was a winter resident in Florida since 1986.
Mrs. Mackin was born in Salisbury, MD to the late Irene Imhoff and William Woodfield Malone. She was a 1942 graduate of WicomicoHigh School. Shortly after graduation she began working for Western Union Telephone and Telegraph Company in Salisbury. She was transferred to Havre de Grace where she met and married her husband, Havre de Grace native, the late John Melvin Mackin. They were married for 39 years, before he passed away in 1985. Doris was a wonderful homemaker and in her golden years worked as a real estate agent in Clearwater, FL. She was an avid antique collector and an on-line whiz. She was a member of the Jockey Club of MD and a lifetime member of the American Legion. Doris was an active member of The Peoples Church of Clearwater, FL. She supported numerous charities and ministries. She will be missed by her family and friends. Her children and grandchildren fondly recall her ready and willing attitude, curly red hair, marathon shopping trips and love for bling-bling.
She was the devoted mother of John Melvin Mackin, Jr of Key West, FL, Melanie Mackin Ledesma and her husband Bob of San Juan, Puerto Rico, Peggy Mackin-Davis of Longwood, FL, and Irene Mackin Johnson and her husband Don of Rising Sun, MD. She was a devoted grandmother of 6, Tiffany Groll, Roberto Ledesma, Melissa Ledesma, Ashleigh Mackin, Tara Davis, and Caitlin Johnson, and great-grandmother to 3, Gabrielle Mackin, Sienna Groll, and Roberto Ledesma, III. She is also survived by one sister, Peggie Frusco of both Clearwater, FL and Wildwood, NJ and one brother, Fred Malone of Salisbury, MD.
A funeral service was held in FL, and will be followed by a Graveside service at MountErinCemetery, Havre de Grace, MD on Saturday 12 April 2008 at 2:00pm.
