Edith Mae Head
Edith Mae Head, of Darlington, MD, "One of the Last Great Ladies of Glenville", passed away on Saturday, December 13, 2008. She was 94.
She was born in Big Poole, MD, to the late Evan L. and Fannie Forsythe Mills. She was the loving wife of the late Raymond C. Head, Sr.
She was the devoted mother of Hillard H. Head and Barbara Duff of Millsboro, DE, Rose Sprankle of Hagerstown, MD, Margrete and Harry Stine of Havre de Grace, MD, Beverley and Walter Hash of Darlington, MD, Winnie Huff Beatty and Morgan Beatty of San Rafael, CA, Robin and Ernie Testerman of Darlington, MD, and the late Raymond C. Head, Jr. She is survived by a daughter-in-law Trude Head of Burketsville, MD and was predeceased by son-in-law Donald L. Sprankle, a grandson Todd Head, and a great-grandchild Jonathan Cockerham. She was the adored grandmother of 14 and great-grandmother of 25.
She was the sister of David Mills of Chambersburg, PA and Irene Cunningham of Falling Water, West Virginia.
Mrs. Head enjoyed her family, and providing child care for many children in Harford County. She was an avid gardener. She loved to cook, and all were welcome at her table. She was very active at Deer Creek Harmony Presbyterian Church.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, December 18, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM, at Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., 123 South Washington Street, Havre de Grace, MD 21078, and on Friday, December 19, from 1-2 PM at Deer Creek Harmony Presbyterian Church, Darlington Road and Harmony Church Road, Darlington, MD 21034. Funeral Services will be held at the church at 2 PM. Rev. Harold Hubble will officiate. Interment will be at Bel Air Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Tom Head, Steven Head, Tim Head, Patrick Sprankle, Jon Sprankle, Scott Hash, and Jeffrey Testerman.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Terri Wolbert, Sandra Gallion, Sharon Cockerham, Donna Hawley, Rhonda Ashley, Kristen Huff, and Rachael Ryan.
