With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Eleanor Fadeley Fears, who departed this life peacefully on June 2, 2025, in Havre de Grace, MD, at the age of 96. Born on December 2, 1928, in Perryville, Maryland, Eleanor lived a life filled with love, laughter, and dedication to her family and community.
Eleanor was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, and her family meant the world to her. She is survived by her cherished daughter, Karen Fears Holly (the late Richard Holly), along with her 4 grandchildren, Michelle Elaine King, Ronald "Dinghy" Fears, Jr., Tania Rose Moss, and Bonnie Fears Anderson, and her 5 great-grandchildren, Libby Jasmine King, Chloe Rebecca King, Brett Danielle Anderson, Scott Aaron Fears,Jessica Rae Fears and great-great-grandchild, Layney Marie Whittley. Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband Irwin Scott Fears, father Henry Milton Fadeley, mother Ida Mae Mahan Fadeley, and her brothers William Fadeley, Donald Fadeley, and Vernon Fadeley. Her warm spirit and loving presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Eleanor built a fulfilling career as a secretary at the Ballistics Research Laboratory, at Aberdeen Proving Ground. In her community, she was an active member of various organizations, including serving as the Past President of the Joseph L. Davis Post 47 American Legion. She delighted in music and performance, participating in the Fun Band and Echos Band in Florida, and was a cherished member of the Sweet Adelines and the Order of the Eastern Star. Her joyful spirit resonated in her love for singing, dancing, and playing the piano. Eleanor found great joy in her with the "So Happy It's Thursday"(shit club) group, where laughter and friendship flourished.
Eleanor's life was a beautiful melody woven through moments shared with her family, her love illuminating their lives in countless ways.
Funeral services for Eleanor will be held on June 9, 2025, at Zellman Funeral Home, P.A. A public viewing will take place from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by the service at noon. Family and friends are invited to join in celebrating Eleanor's remarkable life and the legacy she leaves behind.
In this time of mourning, we remember Eleanor not just for her accomplishments, but for her loving spirit and the bond she nurtured with her family and friends. May her memory be a blessing to all who loved her.
