Eugene "Gene" Layton Burchette, II


Eugene "Gene" Layton Burchette II, of Havre de Grace passed away on Saturday, August 14, 2010. He was 43.

He was born in Havre de Grace, Maryland to Eugene Layton Burchette and Carol Burchette of Darlington, MD.
He was the loving fiancé of Elaine Corbin. He was the devoted father of Eugene Layton Burchette III, Grant Paul Burchette, E.J and Micah Caton. He was the dear brother of Lisa and Ralph DeSantis of Havre de Grace, MD, Chantell Burchette of Sterling, VA and Brad S. Burchette of Forest Hill, MD, He was the adored uncle of Jenee Aigner, Cheyenne Burchette, and Karlee DeSantis.
Gene was employed at Aberdeen Proving Ground as the Branch Chief for the Geodetic Division. He also held the position of A.T.C. Dive Team Supervisor. He served as First Lieutenant of Division 4 for the Susquehanna Hose Company and was a member of the dive team. He enjoyed coaching soccer, baseball, and basketball for his children. He also enjoyed the outdoors and playing soccer and golf. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, August 17, 2010 from 12:00 – 4:00 PM and 6:00-9:00 PM, at Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., 123 South Washington Street, Havre de Grace, MD 21078. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Havre de Grace United Methodist Church, 101 South Union Avenue, Havre de Grace, MD. Pastor Ed Heydt will officiate. Interment will be held at Darlington Cemetery.
