It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Eugene Layton Burchette, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, who departed this life on November 30, 2025, at the age of 84. Born on June 1, 1941, in Baltimore City, MD, Gene spent his life as a dedicated truck driver, having driven over three million miles across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. He proudly worked with SABCO and D&D Distribution, embracing the open road with a sense of adventure and commitment to his craft. Gene was a man of great principles and active community involvement. He was a cherished member and Past Master of the Ancient Free and Accepted Masons, a proud Shriner, and an esteemed member of the Scottish Rite. Additionally, he served his country in the U.S. Army from 1958-1961, and as a member of American Legion Post 47 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW). Gene was not only a hardworking man but an individual who uplifted those around him with his kindness and generosity. He is survived by his loving wife, Carol Burchette; his daughters, Lisa DeSantis (Ralph),and Chantell Williams (Kerry); his son, Brad Burchette (Victoria Webster); his grandchildren, Jenee Page (Joe), Eugene "Gene" Layton Burchette, III, Cheyenne Burchette Williams, Grant Burchette, and Karlee DeSantis; and his great-grandchildren, Mya & Parker Page. The warmth of Gene's presence will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege to know him. Gene was preceded in death by his mother, Opal Pascuzzi, and his son, Eugene Burchette, II To honor his remarkable life, a public viewing will take place at Zellman Funeral Home, P.A. on December 8, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service celebrating his life at 2:00 PM. We invite family and friends to join us in remembering and honoring Gene's legacy of love, hard work, and community service. In his memory, let us continue to spread kindness and embrace life with the same passion he exemplified.
