Evelyn Jane Brendle, of Havre de Grace, MD, passed away on December 2, 2016. She was 90.
Mrs. Brendle was born in Big Pool, MD, to Edgar Franklin Smith and Mary Elizabeth Suder Smith. She was the devoted wife of the late William K, Brendle, M.D., loving mother of Elizabeth Brendle-Williams, of Havre de Grace, MD, Ruth Brendle, and the late Kathleen Anne Brendle. She was the adored grandmother of Wade Brendle Williams and Ava Brendle Williams, the dear sister of Vincent Patrick Smith, and was predeceased by 3 brothers and 4 sisters.
Mrs. Brendle was a Registered Nurse for Mid-State Baptist Hospital in Nashville, TN, and Maryland General Hospital. In 1953, she started a surgical clinic in Havre de Grace, MD. She was an extremely active member of St. John's Episcopal Church. She helped with the St. John's Episcopal Church Food Cupboard. She was also a member of the Nurses Alumni. When she was younger, she enjoyed golfing with her husband. She was a volunteer and enjoyed her time helping Grace Place and the St. John's Cupboard. She enjoyed baking, playing the banjo, piano, guitar and mandolin all by ear and gardening. She loved spending time with friends and family but most of all her twin grandchildren.
Respecting her final wish, services will be private. All are welcome to an
Open House at The Brendle Home, Havre de Grace
on Dec. 18th, between 4-6 pm.
