It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Frances Ann Bentley, who left us peacefully on June 15, 2026, at the age of 83. Born on April 13, 1943, in Hays, North Carolina, Frances spent her life in devotion to her family and her community. A longtime resident of Havre de Grace, Maryland, she touched the lives of many through her work and the warmth of her spirit.
Frances served as a dedicated secretary at Aberdeen Proving Ground, where her kindness and commitment were evident in all her efforts. She was an active member of various organizations including VFW Post 8126, the American Legion Post 47 Auxiliary, and the Aberdeen Moose Lodge, reflecting her spirit of camaraderie and service to her fellow citizens.
Family was the cornerstone of Frances's life. She is survived by her beloved daughter, Patricia Walker (Darren), and her cherished grandchildren: Brendan Walker, Dawn Walker DeLambo (Nicholas), and Amber Hall. She also delighted in the joys of being a great-grandmother to Tristan Walker, Abel Walker, and Zollie Walker. Frances is also survived by her dear brother, Willard Woodie. Frances was preceded in death by: her parents, Dennis Willard Woodie and Teresa McMenumine Woodie, her sons, James Bentley, Jr., and Jeff Bentley, sister, Barbara Burlin,and brother Edward "Eddie" Woodie.
Frances had a passion for crocheting and was known for her gentle nurturing of the many cats she cherished throughout her life. Her laughter, wisdom, and generosity will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A funeral service to celebrate Frances's life will be held on June 20, 2026, at 12:00 PM at Zellman Funeral Home, P.A. Friends and family are invited to visit and pay their respects during the public viewing at the same location, beginning at 11:00 AM.
In this time of sorrow, let us come together to honor Frances's life and the love she imparted to those around her. May her spirit rest in peace, embraced by the love she so freely gave.
